Workplace violations can have serious consequences for both employees and employers in the Philippines.

But how can these violations be properly documented and addressed?

This is where incident reports come in.

Welcome to Legal Guide Philippines where we simplify the law to help you make better choices. I'm Atty. Erwin Zagala and I'm with my partner, Atty. Ramon Ramirez.

Today, we're talking about Incident Reports.

Ano ba ang Incident Reports?

Incident reports are written records of any incidents that occur in the workplace, including violations of company policies, safety procedures, or labor laws.

Why are they important?

These reports are important for a number of reasons.

  • First, they provide a clear and objective account of what happened, which can be used as evidence in any legal proceedings that may follow.
  • Second, incident reports can be used to identify patterns of behavior that may indicate larger problems in the workplace, such as harassment or discrimination.
  • Third, incident reports can help employers and employees work together to identify solutions to workplace issues, improving communication and promoting a positive work environment.

How to fill it out?

When filling out an incident report, it's important to be as detailed and objective as possible. Include the date, time, and location of the incident, as well as the names of any witnesses or involved parties.

It's also important to include a description of the violation or incident, including any relevant details, such as the specific policy or procedure that was violated.

What happens after it is submitted?

Once an incident report is submitted, it should be reviewed by the appropriate parties, such as HR or legal counsel, who can determine the appropriate course of action.

By using incident reports to document workplace violations, employers and employees can work together to create a safer, more productive work environment for everyone.
